1 1/2 cups warm water (110-115°F)

 

2 tbsp sugar

 

1 package active dry yeast

 

5 1/2 to 6 cups all-purpose flour

 

2 tsp salt

 

4 cups warm water

 

2/3 cup baking soda

 

1 egg yolk

 

1 tbsp water

 

Coarse salt for sprinkling
