INGREDIENTS

  • 1 loaf (for optimum results, make sure it’s a day or two old)
  • 1 stick of liquid butter, equal to 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar, 1 cup
  • Four big eggs
  • 1.5 cups of milk
  • Vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon
  • (For that finishing touch) powdered sugar
  • a dash of cinnamon

PREPARATION

Melt the butter until it is liquid and creamy.
Melted butter and brown sugar should be well combined.
Spread this sugary mixture evenly over the bottom of a 9 × 13 baking pan.
In a another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla until well-combined.
On top of the butter and sugar foundation, arrange your bread slices in a comfortable layer.Sprinkle generously with half of your egg mixture, making sure that every slice is covered.Sprinkle some cinnamon over the dish to add a touch of warmth.Add a second layer of bread pieces after that.Add the remaining egg potion to this layer as well and baptize it.Overnight in the refrigerator with the lid on will allow the flavors to develop.

Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) on baking day. Bake for 45 minutes with half the shield on, then expose it to the full heat of the oven for the final 15 minutes.With powdered sugar and a hint of cinnamon, top your golden bake.A ready supply of warm maple syrup is the ideal dipping sauce for this breakfast delight.
