Homemade Apple Pie

    • 5 apples (cored, peeled and cut into even slices)
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/4 cup cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/2 cups water
    • 3/4 cups apple juice or apple cider
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps to a Heavenly Apple Pie Filling:

Preparing the apples: Start with the apples. After coring, peeling and slicing, make sure the slices are even to ensure consistent cooking and flavor combinations.

Dry Mix: Take a large bowl and mix together the sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg until well combined.

Liquid Mixture: In another bowl, combine water, apple juice or apple cider and lemon juice.

Start cooking: Place the chopped apples and dry ingredients in a large pot. Gradually add the liquid ingredients until a homogeneous mixture is formed.

Cooking time: Stir over medium heat until cornstarch mixture thickens. When the apples are soft (about 15-20 minutes), the dough is ready.
