- 5 apples (cored, peeled and cut into even slices)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cups water
- 3/4 cups apple juice or apple cider
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Steps to a Heavenly Apple Pie Filling:
Preparing the apples: Start with the apples. After coring, peeling and slicing, make sure the slices are even to ensure consistent cooking and flavor combinations.
Dry Mix: Take a large bowl and mix together the sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg until well combined.
Liquid Mixture: In another bowl, combine water, apple juice or apple cider and lemon juice.
Start cooking: Place the chopped apples and dry ingredients in a large pot. Gradually add the liquid ingredients until a homogeneous mixture is formed.
Cooking time: Stir over medium heat until cornstarch mixture thickens. When the apples are soft (about 15-20 minutes), the dough is ready.
Cooling phase: Remove the pan from the heat and wait until the filling has cooled down.If you want to use it later, place it in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. This filling stays fresh for up to a week!
All you have to do is bake the cake or dip it with a spoon – no judgment here! Recognize!
