Description
Quick and savory stir-fried tender meat with crisp cabbage in garlic sauce – a perfect weeknight dinner
Ingredients
1 lb tender meat (beef sirloin, flank, or pork tenderloin), thinly sliced
½ medium green cabbage (about 4–5 cups), chopped into bite-size pieces
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 small fresh chili (optional), sliced
2 Tbsp vegetable oil (or other high-heat oil)
2 Tbsp light soy sauce (or low sodium)
1 Tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
1 tsp sugar or brown sugar
1 tsp rice vinegar or splash of black vinegar (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
Optional garnish: green onions, toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Marinate meat slices with a little soy sauce and pepper; set aside.
- Heat wok or large skillet over high heat; add oil. Once hot, stir-fry meat until just browned; remove from pan.
- Add more oil if needed; add garlic (and chili if using); stir until fragrant (about 20-30 seconds).
- Add cabbage; stir quickly for 2-3 minutes, allowing it to wilt slightly but stay crisp.
- Return meat to pan. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sugar, and vinegar. Toss everything so it’s well coated. Adjust seasoning.
- Garnish and serve immediately.
Notes
Adjust heat by adding more chili or omitting it for mild taste.
Use Napa cabbage if you prefer softer texture.
Ensure cabbage is well-drained so dish isn’t watery.
Leftovers stored in fridge up to 3 days; reheat in skillet.
